Plant Those Seeds for Jesus

Plant Those Seeds for Jesus

TammyLovellStone.comThe soil is freshly tilled. I can smell it in the spring air. The entire family is summoned to the garden for planting. (Yes, it is mandatory if you expect to eat food from the garden that you work in the garden.) Sometimes with the little ones it looks a little more like a dirt digging contest. And, of course, someone always gets buried up to their neck. But, none the less, all the seeds somehow make it into the ground.

I could see our youngest grandson over in the edge of the garden squatted down in his overalls and bare feet. A few minutes later he came to me and said with a smile on his face, “I planted my seeds.” I said, “You did.” He said,”Yea.” I then asked him to show me where he thought the best place for planting pumpkins was. He took me by the hand and showed me a spot that was indistinguishable from all the other spots in the garden.

The only reassurance I had that anything was planted there was an empty packet of pumpkin seeds laying nearby. I then asked the question,”Did you plant all the seeds in the same hole?” He proudly said, “Yes, Mam.” I said,”Well they will probably grow that way but you should not put all the seeds in the same hole. They need more room than that to grow.” He said, ” O man, now I am worried about them.”

Sometimes I think we feel the same way about planting seeds for Jesus. We worry and fret about how they were planted, if we planted them correctly, and if the seeds will grow.

But, it is not up to us whether the seeds will take root. That is the Holy Spirit’s job. It is not our job to save others. It is our job to plant the seeds with love and pray that God brings the increase.

So, worry less about how and when to tell others about what God is doing in your life. Remember to let the Holy Spirit work. And, just focus more on actually telling others about how great a God we serve and how His love motivated Him to give us a way to Heaven through His Son, Jesus.

And don’t forget a garden that is not tended brings forth less fruit. So be mindful of how you live your life. The way we live speaks louder than the words we say.

Now, go plant those seeds for Jesus!

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. ” Matthew 28:19-20(NKJV)
